OSO Saloméja Grey Mare, 2007

Saloméja (Polish: 'Peace') is a distinguished ambassadeur of World-renowned Champion Egyptian and Polish lines.

Embodying the philosophy of Aldebaran's Polish breeding program, Saloméja is a supremely feminine, distinctively typey, structurally superior and athletically-gifted Arabian mare. With an attractively refined head, a long elegant neck and well-balanced build, she is a perfect phenotypic representation of a masterfully crafted blend of two of the world's most revered sire lines.

This beautiful young mare traces to past and modern-day Arabian nobility in every line of her highly-distinguished pedigree, exhibiting a splendid combination of International Champion breeding. Her sire, *Laheeb (grey, 1996 Imperial Imdal x AK Latifa/Ibn Moneit El Nefous), is a World Top Ten Stallion, twice Israeli National Senior Champion and European Reserve Junior Champion. Saloméja's dam, Sariene is a charming, pure-white daughter of European and Polish National Champion, *Emigrant (grey, 1991, Ararat x Emigrantka/Eukaliptus), imported to the US in 2008. Emigrant's international-champion get include the Michaløw chief stallion Gaspar, and the lovely Pustynna Róża (out of Aldebaran Arabian's broodmatron extraordinaire: *Pustynna Tarcza) marked amongst the ten elite broodmares of the Polish State Stud, Michaløw.

Unique pedigree: One of only few known mares in the world to share *Laheeb on the spear side, with *Emigrant on the distaff. International Champion breeding.
Extreme function: Accomplished dam line originating from the high-winning 'S' racing family of Janów Podlaski (Sarabanda, grey 1973) for six consecutive generations.
Superbly built, classic Arabian beauty with bold movement.

Background notes on OSO Saloméja's pedigree
Leased to USA in 2005, Laheeb was the first Straight Egyptian sire employed in the Polish State farm breeding, the extraordinary results of which have produced National and World champion progeny, such as Galilea (World Champion Mare and Polish National Champion), Al Lahab (World Champion Stallion, All Nation's Cup Champion, and Dubai Gold Cup Champion), Poganin (Polish National Champion), Pustynna Droga (International Senior Champion Mare, Baden).

Saloméja's granddam *Sari (grey, 1987) has led an accomplished track career (14 money earning places from 19 starts), stemming from the extremely succesful Sarabanda racing family, a dynasty established by prized foundation broodmare SABDA, in which six consecutive generations have won the Derby and Oaks. The list of classic stake winners includes: Sarabellina, Santa, Sala, Samarra, Sanos, Sasanka, Sarenka, Sasketka, Sanna, Sarmacja, Savvannah and Salsa. Sabda's descendants have further been notable international show successes such as Sefora (World Top Ten, All Nations Cup Top Five and Polish National Champion filly), Sasza (twice UK Champion mare) and Siklawa (Polish and Qatar National Reserve Champion). Additionally, Sarabanda's direct Champion progeny includes Saradela (World Champion, All Nations Cup Champion, Swedish Champion and European Reserve Champion) and Saragon (Austrian Reserve Champion).
